Plot Synopsis[]

"Two years after the end of the Danganronpa TV show, and one year after the events of Danganronpa: LIVe or Die, a huge meetup event for survivors of the various seasons is held. However, someone releases sleeping gas and kidnaps 16 of the attendees to put them in a new killing game on a deserted island. What they don't initially realize is that all of them won their respective seasons by committing murder and getting away with it - so everyone in this game is already a killer!" - Official Synopsis[1]

Creation and Development[]

The development of Danganronpa: Survivor's Guilt began in September 2023, soon after the release of the Synthetic Love bonus story for Danganronpa: LIVe or Die. The developers, Aru and Raven, made the decision to upgrade the sequel's engine from RPG Maker 2003 to the RPG Maker MV. The entire cast was revealed in November of 2023. The game was delayed for a few months more than initially planned because the sprite artists for the project were replaced twice. This led to the developers decision to release the Prologue and Chapter 1 at the same time, the same as the previous game in the series. In June 2024, the developers held auditions for voice actors on their Discord server.

The Prologue, "Disposable Heroes," and Chapter 1, "Driven to Destruction," were released simultaneously on October 11th, 2024, on Itch.io and Gamejolt, along with a silent playthrough on Youtube.

Chapter 2, "No One Loves Me & Neither Do I", was released on January 17th, 2025.

Chapter 3, "Heart-Shaped Box" is scheduled to release in Q2 of 2025[2].
