Danganronpa Another ~Another Despair Academy~ (단간론파 어나더 ~또 하나의 절망학원~ Danganronpa Eonadeo ~Tto Hanaui Jeolmang Hagwon~), more simply known as Danganronpa Another and DRA, is a completely released fan game created by the Korean game developer LINUJ.
The first complete chapter was released on January 6th, 2013 and the full game was completed and released on June 11th, 2015. LINUJ later released a sequel titled Super Danganronpa Another 2.

Creation and Development[]
Production for Danganronpa Another was started at some point during 2012 by a group of three people; LINUJ (린유즈) who led the production, drew the illustrations and sprites, coded, etc, Kim Master (김마스터) who colored the illustrations and presumably sprites, and Bamnunbagi (밤눈박이) who worked as an assistant for the sounds and the general story. The game was programmed entirely using RPG Maker 2000, which LINUJ had more experience with using compared to other coding programs. After progressing through the Chapters he had begun to regret this decision however after seeing gameplay of Danganronpa Blowback, created by Auxin (옥신), stating that he would be swapping over to RPG Maker VX if he created a sequel[1].
The first Chapter and Prologue was released onto LINUJ's blog on the 6th of January 2013, using Naver's cloud feature as a way to download and play it, additionally posting a charset which had to be placed into the 'Charset' folder in case the initial download wouldn't work without it. Production for chapter two then likely began in April or February. An update was later posted on LINUJ's blog on March 18th stating that progress for the chapter had reached around halfway, that college was taking up a lot of his time, and that he was hoping for a mid-May release[2]. Mid-May soon came around with an update posted, with LINUJ apologizing that Chapter 2 wasn't finished yet having not expected production to have been so long, now estimating a June released instead[3]. Another updated was posted an exact month afterwards stating updates that would be added in the second Chapter, then revealing that the second chapter would be uploaded a week later and that all that was left was the execution[4]. A day later LINUJ would post a blog containing the unspoilered versions of the class trial portraits[5], and then as promised he would release the second chapter on June 22nd with a modification reposted on July 1st [6].
Production for chapter three began in July, though this is assumed by a post where LINUJ spoke about making the class trials less difficult. A little bit over two weeks later LINUJ made another update. In this update he reveals that his computer had broken during the production of Chapter 3, and was sent in for repairs, but was worried that the data would've been lost and that since he didn't make backups he would have to recreate chapter three again- which was confirmed a bit over a week later in another update[7]- having reached to the body discoveries at the time of posting[8]. Despite this he was still hoping that if this wasn't the case and the data was safe, that he would be able to make a mid-August release[8]. Production would resume a few days after the second update, presumably having been able to restore bits of the lost data and continue from there, hoping to be able to still make it to an August release[9]. Over a month later however LINUJ would post another apology for not being able to release it at the time he had wanted to, stating homework and school as the reason for this[10]. Three months after this update Chapter three would be released on the 23rd of December[11]. In the release blog LINUJ apologised once more for 'lateness', going on to state that he had wished to add more to the chapter but didn't want to prolong the release[11].
Production for Chapter 4 would begin in early 2014, with the first blog post confirming this posted in April that year. In this post LINUJ reveals that he had been wishing to release the fourth chapter by around March of 2014, but this hadn't been able to happen due to a few different factors. Firstly, LINUJ had taken a leave of absence from school and was thinking about joining the army or finding work, and was beginning to research both of these options. LINUJ didn't have an estimation in this blog update (though does later go on to say that he believed it may have been possible to upload it by May), as he didn't want to make another promise that he didn't believe he could keep, but promised that he wouldn't be ending production and was wishing to complete the game at some point[12]. In July LINUJ would return to his blog after a three-month silence, wondering if his site had been hacked during the time he was away as he felt something had changed and noticing a lot of IP connections from China and Japan. Continuing the blog LINUJ would say that he had been working on the case for the chapter, but was struggling to do it because of work that would be continuing until the end of July. Ending the blog LINUJ reveals that he had bought an art tablet for the graphical parts of the game[13]. Sixteen days later LINUJ would share the new splash art for Mikako Kurokawa, stating that it was a 'practice image' with the use of his new tablet. He also mentions that he wished to release the fourth chapter by August[14]. LINUJ would later release Chapter 4 on the 21st of August[15], the rest of the students updated splash arts a week later[16], and the unused party designs on August 30th[17].
In September of the same year LINUJ would reveal that production for Chapter 5 had already begun, posting this with an update of the opening screens, hoping that Chapter 5 would be released sooner than chapter four was as it supposed to be shorter[18]. A month later in October LINUJ would reveal that he had already made it to the class trial segment of the Chapter 5, and was hoping to release the chapter in only two weeks after the post[19]. In November LINUJ posted another blog about the production of Chapter 5, sharing a new image for a cut-in and revealing that Chapter 5 was close to completion. He goes on to mention that he wishes to redraw all of the images using his tablet, but was going to wait until the completion of the game until he did so due to the overall quantity of images[20]. On the tenth of November LINUJ revealed that Chapter 5's production had completed two days prior to posting, but time was being given until uploading it to spend time debugging it and whatnot[21]. Chapter 5 would be released three days later on November 13th[22].
Chapter 6's production began in December of the same year, revealing that he had been spending his time working on graphical updates of the sprites and certain CG's[23]. In between this time, however, LINUJ had also began work on Chapter 0; a chapter that had renewed images and consisted of ten minutes of gameplay[24]. In January of 2015 LINUJ posted a production update for Chapter 6, apologising for being unable to release the final chapter as he had promised back in December. Instead, he tried to estimate a February release, at this time only missing the climax and the epilogue[25]. On February 20th another update was posted onto LINUJ's blog stating that Chapter 6 would be released on Sunday that week[26], which later came true[27].
Post-game releases[]
After the release Chapter 6, LINUJ would release a statement thanking everyone who had been playing his game. LINUJ reveals that he hadn't initially planned to complete the game when first starting it, stating the reason of having no confidence in his skills to complete it when he had first started production. As the game continued and he had gained support from people however his confidence grew, and he began to have more interest and fun developing the game [1].
Later on in the post LINUJ talks about the development of the game, eventually talking about the original plans of Danganronpa Another. While the death order was fixed since chapter one, Kanata Inori was originally meant to kill in chapter two instead of Ayame Hatano who instead died in chapter three. As the game progressed both of their fates were swapped with the other's, stating the change to be because of the motives[1].
In separate posts LINUJ would begin to release the character profiles, starting with the game's protagonist Yuki Maeda. In March of the same year LINUJ announced that he would be starting a popularity poll where he would host a prize draw at the end of the deadline where three winners could earn 5,000 Won or cultural gift certificates. To get added to this prize draw voters would have to vote three times, but any over would be voided and any under would have their votes count but not added to the prize draw[28]. Fifteen days later LINUJ released shortened character profiles of every character[29]. In April LINUJ posted a blog, later revealed to be an April Fools joke, stating that he'd finished the remake of the game early. Instead the files lead to fullbody sprites of all of the characters, excluding the party sprites which likely weren't finished at the time, and Chapter 6 CG's[30]. The post was later updated later the same to be revealed as a joke, along with an apology for people who thought it was real and got spoiled[30].
On the third of April the results for the popularity poll were posted with 263 votes gathered, and 789 including people who voted more than once[31]. The winners of the prize draw were rewarded on April 26th[32].
